The Awesome Blogger Award

Happy Thursday, my blogger friends. I couldn’t believe how exceptional the weather was today! It was in the low 70s and sunny with just the hint of a breeze. I am so looking forward to fall–it can’t get here any sooner for me!

I was nominated for the Awesome Blogger Award by the darlingest Merline of Merline Reads. She is such an awesome blogger, bookstagrammer, and human being. I hope you’ll give her a follow!

“This is an award for the absolutely wonderful writers all across the blogging world. They have beautiful blogs, are kind and lovely, and always find a way to add happiness and laughter to the lives of their readers. That is what truly defines an awesome blogger.” – Creator of the tag, Maggie @ Dreaming of Guatemala

Merline’s Questions

  1. What’s your Harry Potter name? Use this generator to find out!

2. Do you have a favorite nursery rhyme?

I don’t have a particular nursery rhyme which I would deem my ultimate favorite. But does anyone else love children’s picture books as much as I do? Dan Santat’s After the Fall: How Humpty Dumpty Got Back up Again is an awesome and beautifully illustrated “epilogue” to the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme.

3. What book were you reading last Friday?

Last Friday I finished Kasie West’s By Your Side on audiobook and I ended up giving it 2 out of 5 stars. I included it in yesterday’s Rapid Reviews #2 post if you’d like to read more about my opinions on it.

4. Do you have a least favorite character from a book? If so, who?

I absolutely HATE Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles. I read Fairest just for the sake of reading all the books in the series, but I truly wish I didn’t.  I found her backstory disturbing and it made me extremely angry and uncomfortable. There are villains you love and Levana is absolutely not one of those for me. I can’t say I’m happy to understand her better. I do feel some empathy for her hardships, but it does not make me hate her any less. She has very few redeeming qualities. She is a brand new kind of crazy that I’ve encountered in a young adult book and it was a little terrifying.

5. Are you a fan of surprise parties? Why/why not?

I’ve only ever helped to throw a surprise party for friends, but I’ve never had one thrown for me! I do think they’re a lot of fun, but they can be hard work because of all the secret-keeping. Also, I’m always suspicious of everything and everyone, so I can definitely be tough to fool!

6. The next time you leave your home, where are you headed?

I’m currently at work, so my answer would have been to the library, which is where I work! Tomorrow I have the day off, so I’ll likely be at home all day reading and photographing for my bookstagram account. But on Saturday, I will have to leave the house to sing for church.
