Bookish Updates

Happy Tuesday, blog friends. Just wanted to stop by to let you know that I’ll probably be quite sparse in my posting over the next few weeks as my spring semester comes to a close.

I have a few important assignments to work on which will likely take up any free time I have outside of work and other things. I also have a few book review responsibilities which definitely need to be taken care of…but I seriously wish I could share with you the ARCs I’m reading right now. They’re just great and I’m so thankful I get a chance to read them in advance.

But I still update daily on Bookstagram, particularly because of rep responsibilities. So definitely give me a follow there if you don’t already to see my regular shenanigating (@singprettyreadbooks).

Here are a few book-related updates I’d like to share with you:

I finished my first Sarah Dessen book! Since I own so many of her books, I asked my followers on bookstagram what book to start with. A few suggested The Truth About Forever and after following through on that suggestion, I’m happy to say that I absolutely loved it! I’m not sure if I’ll get a chance to write up a full review, but I will say that it was such a joy to read and Dessen’s honest writing style really spoke to me. I believe that there’s a time and place for every book in your life. Apparently, I needed Twilight when I was in high school and I need Sarah Dessen right now.

I finally completed Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus series. I have to say that things sort of went downhill for me after book 2. I found The Score too sex-crazed and The Goal  melodramatic. Check out my reviews for The Deal and The Mistakebooks 1 & 2 respectively.

I recently started The Last of August which is the second in the Charlotte Holmes trilogy by Brittany Cavallaro. I personally enjoyed A Study in Charlotte and was really looking forward to continuing. I was saddened to see that this installment had slightly lower ratings and I was worried I would be disappointed. Fortunately, I’m still very much drawn into the Cavallaro’s Sherlockian story. Every time I’ve picked it up, I had a hard time putting it down. There’s something about the complex relationship between a Holmes and Watson that just really appeals to me.

I received my first rep package from the newly branded Witchy Wicks Candle Co (formerly Mischief Managed Candles). I did an unboxing over the weekend on Bookstagram and I cannot get over how utterly impressed I am by the candles I received. I cannot wait to share them with you here! Just in case you shop from them already or plan on doing so in the future, use my rep code SINGPRETTY15 to get 15% off your order.

But that’s all I have for you now! Welcome to some of my newest followers in the last few days! Sorry you had to catch me while I’m not particularly active.

I’d really like to read up on everyone’s posts and leave some comments, but I’m not sure when I’ll get the chance. I’ll do my best!

Let me know in the comments below what your life is like right now. Have you been super busy? Have you had any time for yourself to just read and relax? I sure hope so.

  1. Hello Jasmine!
Seems like a busy time for you! Hope school’s going well and good luck on those assignments!
I read The Deal a while ago and didn’t feel too strongly about continuing haha. Glad to hear your thoughts on the rest of this series.
